The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Okere Constituency, Daniel Nana Addo Kenneth, has led a significant walk in the constituency, dubbed the 2026 Walk Okere, aimed at boosting tourism, creating job opportunities, and raising healthcare awareness in the area.
Addressing the media at Adukrom, he highlighted the abundant tourism potential of the Okere Constituency, which needs to be showcased for global recognition. He emphasised that promoting local tourist sites could create job opportunities for the youth in the area.
The Okere district boasts several attractions, including Asenema Waterfalls, the Miracles from Okomfo Anokye at Awukugwa, Umbrella Rocks at Asifaw, the Abonse Slave Market, and Aperedi Waterfalls, among others.
"The vision we had, which is walking or walk outfit, and today the door has opened which we have begun. And our major reason is to help the youth get healthy," he stated.
He added, "Now you'll hear someone 30 years, below 40 will get a stroke, even those in their 20s can get a stroke, all because we don't get time to exercise. Walking is an exercise, so that is the major reason."
Hon. Kenneth expressed enthusiasm about the event, stating, "I asked if someone also comes and walks on Dan Botchwey's High Street, where will that person go again? That's why we decided that today, when we leave here, we will show them ... waterfalls."
