The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects for allegedly attempting to disarm a police bodyguard during a foiled robbery attack at the residence of a Court of Appeal Judge in Kumasi.
On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, the suspects, identified as Patrick Alor, 23, and Akwasi Gyamfi, 21, scaled the fence surrounding the Judge's residence armed with cutlasses and scissors.
They attempted to break into a private vehicle but were spotted by the bodyguard on duty.
In self-defence, the bodyguard fired at the suspects, injuring them in the legs. The suspects were subsequently taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), where they are receiving treatment.
“In accordance with police operational procedures, the bodyguard discharged his firearm, resulting in gunshot wounds to the left and right legs of the suspects, respectively.”
The injured suspects were immediately conveyed to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi, where they are currently admitted and responding to treatment under police guard.
The Police Command reaffirms its commitment to protecting members of the judiciary and all citizens, commending the vigilance, professionalism, and bravery of the bodyguard, whose swift action prevented a potentially serious incident.
