The Upper West Regional Command of the Narcotics Control Commission (NCC), acting on intelligence, has intercepted two Rhino Kia trucks transporting unapproved substances at Kaleo in the Nadowli District.
The intercepted items included 40 drums of sodium cyanide, 58 cartons of foreign cigarettes, and 182 cartons of unapproved pharmaceutical products. The consignments, authorities said, were bound for Burkina Faso.

According to the NACOC, the items were being conveyed in two Rhino Kia trucks with registration numbers GS 5699-18 and GC 1871-11.
On Sunday, February 1, 2026, officers received intelligence indicating that the vehicles were heading toward Burkina Faso with illicit cargo.
A search conducted on the trucks revealed that the substances were being transported without the required documentation or regulatory approval.
The drivers of the vehicles and their assistants have since been handed over to the Upper West Regional Police Command for further investigations and possible prosecution.
