Labour Minister urges CLOGSAG to reconsider nationwide strike

The Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo, has appealed to the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) to reconsider their planned nationwide strike.

In an interview with the Accra-based Citi FM on Saturday,February 12, 2026, Dr Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo assured CLOGSAG that the government is committed to resolving any challenges through engagement with the leadership.

"I will urge them not to go on strike but to believe the promise we made to get them what they want. It will be worked on so we don’t have a situation where people stay at home to achieve an objective that can be achieved without staying at home,” he said.

His appeal follows CLOGSAG's threat of a nationwide strike scheduled for 9 March 2026, citing prolonged delays in implementing the approved salary structure and other conditions of service.

He reassured the association that there would be continued dialogue regarding the salary structure and conditions of service, stating that such decisions follow established processes.

"It is normally a process, and in that, you consider all the factors that come to define the economy. I have had some discussions with the Minister for Finance; it is something we take seriously," he added.
