Gov't to implement comprehensive reforms for cocoa sector

The Minister for Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson, has stated that the government will roll out comprehensive reforms for the cocoa sector.

Speaking to the media, he emphasised that the sector has faced several challenges affecting cocoa farmers, prompting the need for reforms to address these issues.

He highlighted the significant role the cocoa sector has played in Ghana’s economy, citing job creation and revenue generation for the country.

“The sector has survived this country for years, created jobs, it has done so well and always been our mainstay of the Ghanaian economy," he stated.

He reassured the public that details of the reforms would be announced today, expressing confidence that everyone would embrace the changes positively.

"But it is obvious that the sector is undergoing some challenges and needs some reforms and those reforms will be announced today, and I'm sure going forward all of us will be happy," he stated.
