Madina MP Francis-Xavier Kojo Sosu is doing well and has received medical attention after collapsing while delivering a speech at GIMPA on Thursday.

The Office of the Madina MP confirmed his condition in a statement issued on Thursday, September 24, following videos and reports of the incident circulating on social media.

Dr Sosu collapsed while speaking at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) in Accra, prompting people at the event to rush to his assistance before he was taken away for medical attention.

In the statement signed by Ivan Dzakpasu, Chief of Staff at the MP’s office, the office assured constituents, supporters and well-wishers that the lawmaker had received the necessary care.

“We wish to assure the general public, constituents, supporters, and well-wishers that Hon. Dr. Francis-Xavier Sosu is doing well and has received the necessary medical attention,” the statement said.

The office did not disclose the cause of the collapse or provide further details about the medical attention received. It instead urged the public to remain calm and avoid relying on unverified reports or speculation about the MP’s health.

It also expressed appreciation for the prayers, goodwill, concern and messages of support received from constituents, supporters and well-wishers following the incident.

“Further information will be communicated through the Office's official channels as and when necessary,” the statement added.

Dr Sosu is the Member of Parliament for Madina on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress. Parliament lists him as a member of the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee, the Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Committee, and Ranking Member of the Subsidiary Legislation Committee.
