Akuapem South: Over 1,000 SHS entrants benefit from MP Adwoa Dziwornu’s Educational Fund

The Member of Parliament for Akuapem South in the Eastern Region, Lawrencia Adwoa Dziwornu, has supported over 1,000 students entering Senior High School this year with monetary assistance and educational materials.

The support, under the MP’s Adwoa Education Fund, each beneficiary received GH¢500 and exercise books.

All that was required of the students was to present admission letters at a brief gathering held at the Aburi Methodist Church premises to access their package.

According to the MP, the education empowerment policy is designed to fulfill her commitment to education in the constituency while easing the financial burden on parents whose wards have gained admission into SHS.

Addressing the gathering, Madam Adwoa Dziwornu described her leadership as “blessings and mother for all” to the people of Akuapem South, particularly the less privileged and parents struggling financially to transition their wards to secondary education.

While the initiative forms part of a campaign pledge, she reiterates her commitment to making education one of the key pillars of her administration.

The MP emphasized that this intervention policy will play an instrumental role in building inclusivity and positioning Akuapem South for progress.

"I have come for all persons in the constituency. I have come for the trader, the farmer, and one whose finances cannot cater for their wards' education.

"So that hope shall be restored to these people to enable their wards and children to become MPs, Nurses, Doctors, and other high-profile professions," she expressed, drawing inspiration from her story as the daughter of a trader who struggled financially to educate her children.

She pledged to sustain the policy as long as she remains a Member of Parliament, ensuring that future generations of Akuapem South strive for excellence through education to become meaningful citizens in society.

The MP urged the beneficiary students to take their academic work seriously, pursue their dreams, and make the leadership proud.

She cautioned against distractions such as romantic relationships, advising them to focus on their studies until they are successful after tertiary education.

Parents and students expressed joy and gratitude for the intervention, praying for blessings upon Madam Adwoa Dziwornu for her continued kindness and generosity.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area, Paul Osae Offei, challenged the students to make good use of the support.

He underscored the MP’s unprecedented achievements within her two years in office.

"We can all attest to the fact that MPs rolling out these kinds of supports are usually the long-serving ones with two, three, or more terms in office. However, if we take the modern era of MPs like our own, she’s been in office for barely two years, yet the kind of work she’s doing is unprecedented and admirable.

"We have seen some former MPs of Akuapem South being in power for 16 years and over, and I don’t think we have witnessed what we’re seeing today. So we need to be appreciative of her gesture and pray for strength and wider scope so she can do more for a the good people of Akuapem South," he added.
