The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has launched the National Horticultural Seed Roadmap to improve Ghanaian farmers’ access to quality seeds and seedlings.
The roadmap, launched on Thursday, September 17, 2026, provides strategic direction for the development of Ghana’s horticultural seed sector over the next three to five years.
The initiative focuses on increasing the availability, accessibility and use of improved planting materials suited to Ghanaian conditions.
According to the Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, John Setor Dumelo, the roadmap was an important step towards building a stronger and more responsive seed system.
He noted that the implementation will focus on strengthening local seed production, improving farmers’ access to quality planting materials and supporting the development of suitable crop varieties.
