The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has flagged 20 mobile loan applications operating without the required licences or authorisation to provide digital credit services in Ghana.
The affected apps are Cascredit, Cash Future, Cash Cedi, Cashpal, Cashpal Pro, CreditGo, Funds Credit, Glow Credit, Moni Wave, MoniLend, Nova Cedi, Onua Loan, Quick Cedi, Sika Boost, Sika Credit, Sompa Loan, Sune Credit, Swift Lend, Target Credit and Zoom Advance.
According to the central bank, the operations of the identified providers violate regulatory requirements, including rules on customer data privacy and consumer protection.
The BoG said it is working with relevant state institutions to identify and investigate the operators and determine appropriate enforcement measures.
It has consequently advised members of the public not to use the identified applications or engage with other unlicensed digital credit providers.
“The Bank of Ghana will continue to collaborate with relevant state institutions to identify, investigate, and take appropriate enforcement action against such entities,” the central bank said.
The BoG also cautioned banks, Specialised Deposit-Taking Institutions (SDIs) and Payment Service Providers (PSPs) against facilitating or processing transactions for unlicensed loan providers.
Consumers who encounter unlicensed digital lending activities have been encouraged to report them directly to the Bank of Ghana.
The latest action forms part of the regulator's efforts to clean up Ghana's rapidly expanding digital credit market and strengthen protections for consumers dealing with mobile-based lending services.
The Bank of Ghana's Digital Credit Service Providers directive, issued in September 2025, requires entities offering digital credit services in Ghana to obtain the appropriate licence or authorisation. The regulator says operating without the required approval contravenes the directive.
