The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, has issued a legal warning to individuals and media platforms over allegations he describes as false and defamatory.

In a legal notice dated Wednesday, 5 August 2026, Mr Gyamfi’s lawyers rejected claims circulating on traditional and social media that a man identified as Dominic Bonsu was his bodyguard and had allegedly absconded with GH¢200 million belonging to GoldBod.

The lawyers described the allegations as “entirely false, malicious, reckless and devoid of any factual or legal basis,” and demanded that all persons immediately stop publishing, republishing, transmitting or sharing the claims in any form.

According to the legal notice, Mr Gyamfi has never met, known, engaged or maintained any personal or professional relationship with Mr Bonsu.

The lawyers further stated that Mr Bonsu has never served as Mr Gyamfi’s bodyguard, personal security officer, employee, agent, representative or associate.

They also denied claims that Mr Bonsu took GH¢200 million belonging to GoldBod, insisting that neither Mr Gyamfi nor the institution entrusted, transferred or paid the said amount, or any public funds, to him.

The legal team warned that any publication suggesting Mr Gyamfi authorised, facilitated, participated in, condoned or benefited from alleged financial misconduct was defamatory and actionable under Ghanaian law.

Addressing reports that a company linked to Mr Bonsu may have obtained a licence from GoldBod, the lawyers said such a licence does not establish any personal, professional or business relationship between the two individuals.

The notice cautioned that every new publication or republication of the allegations could amount to a separate actionable offence and expose publishers, broadcasters, editors and administrators to legal consequences.

Mr Gyamfi’s lawyers said they had instructions to pursue available civil remedies, including claims for damages, injunctions and legal costs, against anyone who continues to circulate the allegations.

The legal notice was issued without prejudice to all rights and remedies available to Mr Gyamfi.
