Four killed, several injured after suspected explosives detonate at Aboso

By: Emmanuel Bekoe

Four people have died and several others injured after suspected explosives exploded at Aboso in the Prestea Huni Valley Municipality.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, August 4, at Breman near a fuel station, with eyewitnesses claiming the blast was triggered after an attempt to shoot a snake accidentally hit explosives reportedly stored nearby.

Residents said the explosion caused panic, with some initially mistaking the loud sound for an earthquake.

An eyewitness claimed some workers nearby attempted to kill a snake with a gun, but the bullet missed its target and struck the explosives, causing the deadly blast.

Emergency responders were deployed to assist the injured and secure the area.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the explosion or details surrounding the storage of the suspected explosives. Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances that led to the tragedy.
