The Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has charged teachers in his constituency to make effective use of 100 laptops donated under his “One Teacher, One Laptop” initiative to enhance teaching and learning.

The MP said the intervention was aimed at equipping teachers with the necessary tools to adapt to the demands of an increasingly digital education environment and improve their productivity.

Mr Afenyo-Markin explained that the initiative was not a routine political activity but a personal commitment driven by the needs of teachers in Effutu.

“This laptop presentation is not a seasonal ritual, and it is certainly not a political calendar that I roll out because a date demands it. The One Teacher One Laptop Initiative is a personal response, and I take it when the need genuinely arises,” he said.

He said teachers play a critical role in shaping the future of children and deserve access to resources that make their work more efficient.

According to the Minority Leader, the modern teacher’s toolkit must go beyond traditional classroom materials, as technology has become essential for effective teaching, lesson preparation, accessing knowledge and managing academic records.

“A teacher without a laptop today is like a soldier sent to the front line without a rifle,” Mr Afenyo-Markin stated, adding that a properly used laptop could significantly multiply a teacher’s productivity.

He urged beneficiaries to ensure the devices are not left unused but become tools for preparing better lessons, improving record-keeping, and delivering better educational outcomes for pupils across Effutu.

“This initiative, as you have already been told, began in 2018, and others like it will continue. Effutu’s teachers will always find in me a listening ear and a willing partner,” he added.

The One Teacher, One Laptop Initiative forms part of Mr Afenyo-Markin’s efforts to support educators in Effutu by providing digital resources to strengthen teaching capacity and improve learning experiences for schoolchildren.
