Two women believed to be nationals of Benin were found dead on Monday, August 3, in a room at Cab Hospitality Hotel in the Gbewa Residential Area of Tamale, the Northern Regional Police Command has said.
According to a police statement, hotel management reported the incident, after which officers proceeded to the scene and discovered the bodies of the two women.
The remains were conveyed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital Mortuary for preservation and a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Preliminary investigations have commenced to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths, identify the deceased and liaise with relevant authorities to facilitate contact with their families.
The Inspector‑General of Police (IGP) has deployed a special team of investigators, intelligence officers and a crime‑scene team from the National Police Headquarters to assist the Northern Regional Police Command with the enquiries.
The Command has urged any member of the public with credible information on the incident to call the Police Emergency Numbers, 191/18555, or report to the nearest police station.
