NIA expands Ghana Card access with new 24-hour service centre

By: Emmanuel Bekoe

The National Identification Authority (NIA) has opened its first Prestige Centre in Accra to provide faster and more flexible Ghana Card registration services.

The Labone Prestige Centre will begin operations on Saturday, 1 August 2026, as part of efforts by the NIA to expand access to identity services and improve customer experience.

In a statement dated Wednesday, 29 July, and signed by Head of Corporate Affairs Williams Ampomah Emmanuel Darlas, the Authority said the facility will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including weekends.

The NIA explained that the extended operating hours are designed to allow applicants to access Ghana Card registration and related services at a time that is convenient for them.

The Authority said the Prestige Centre will operate as a fee-based service facility, with all services provided attracting the applicable approved charges.

According to the NIA, the new centre is intended to complement existing registration facilities by offering an additional option for individuals seeking greater convenience, flexibility and quicker service delivery.

The Labone facility is the first of several Prestige Centres the Authority plans to establish across the country. The NIA said details of additional centres will be announced once they become operational.

The Authority reiterated its commitment to improving the accessibility, efficiency and security of Ghana’s identity management system while ensuring a more customer-focused experience for eligible applicants.
