The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu‑Adjare, has donated 1,500 bags of waterproof cement and GH¢100,000 to her alma mater, St. Monica’s Senior High School in Mampong, to support the construction of a science laboratory block ahead of the school’s 80th anniversary.

Making the presentation at the school’s administration block, the minister reflected on her time as a student and urged current pupils to take advantage of improved learning conditions and strive for excellence.

She also appealed to manufacturers of building materials to support the school’s infrastructure projects.

Hon. Ofosu‑Adjare explained that the cement donation came from GhaCem Company Limited following the launch of its Super Strong Waterproof Cement, and that she redirected the materials to St. Monica’s. She added GH¢1,000 in cash toward the project.

“I came to St. Monica’s when I was 11 years old and left at the age of 19. I grew up on this campus, and everything I am today is rooted in the values this school instilled in me.

“If anyone has benefited from my service, it is because St. Monica’s trained me to be hardworking. This is the time for all of us to give back to the school that nurtured us,” she stated.

The headmistress Dr. Cynthia Asamoah Gyimah thanked the minister, describing the gift as a significant boost toward completing the science laboratory and other works before the 80th‑anniversary celebrations.

The Global President of the Old Students’ Association, Mrs Paulina Agyei Marfo, urged alumni to continue supporting the school, while the Mampong Municipal Chief Executive, Essif Yakubu, pledged increased assembly support.

The school presented a citation to the minister in recognition of her service and contributions to St. Monica’s.
