The Ashanti Regional Police Command has announced that three suspects have been arrested and arraigned before court in connection with the murder of Yusuf Zakari, who was allegedly lynched at Sabon Zongo in Kumasi.

In a statement, the Command said preliminary investigations indicate that in the early hours of July 19, 2026 the victim was allegedly attacked by a group of persons at a cattle kraal in Sabon Zongo.

According to the report, the victim sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the Manhyia Government Hospital.

He was later referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Following swift police investigations, three suspects were arrested. They are Moses Adoko, 37, a plumber; Abubakari Adams, 25, a herdsman; and Nurudeen Suleman, 35, a motor mechanic.

The suspects were subsequently arraigned before the Asokore Mampong District Court, presided over by Her Worship Mrs Hilder Esther Wryter.

The court remanded all three suspects into police custody; they are scheduled to reappear before the court on August 7, 2026.

The Police have commenced further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident and are making efforts to identify and arrest any other persons who may have been involved.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command urged members of the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and to report suspected criminal activities to the Police for lawful action.

However, the Command appealed to anyone with relevant information that may assist the investigation to contact the nearest police station or call the Police emergency numbers: MTN toll-free 18555, 191 or 112.

The statement, issued and signed by Goodwin Ahianyo, Superintendent of Police and Head of the Public Affairs Unit, Ashanti Region, affirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring that all persons connected with this incident are brought to justice through the due process of law.
