The Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Sampson Ahi, has hosted a 13‑member delegation of international fellows to discuss Ghana’s trade, agribusiness and industrial development agenda and explore collaboration opportunities.

The visit was a follow‑up to an engagement two weeks ago between the Ministry and African Start‑ups and SMEs in Export Trade Secretariat (ASSETS). It gave the fellows a chance to gain a deeper understanding of the Ministry’s mandate, programmes and strategic priorities.

In a statement issued by the Public Relations and Communications Update of MOTAI, it said the discussions covered trade promotion, the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), transport and logistics, industrial development, agribusiness, institutional strengthening and educational collaboration.

Hon. Ahi reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to promoting partnerships that support trade, investment, agribusiness and industrialisation.

He encouraged the fellows to use the knowledge gained during the visit to strengthen collaboration between Ghana and their home countries and emphasized the government’s resolve to create an enabling environment for business and investment.

The fellows exchanged ideas with ministry officials on how international partnerships can support sustainable economic development.

The founder of the Garvey Nkrumah Fellowship Programme and leader of the delegation, Professor John Woods, thanked the Deputy Minister for the warm reception and said the interaction provided important insights into Ghana’s trade and industrial policies.

He commended the Ministry’s efforts to drive economic transformation.

The delegation included fellows from the United States, Trinidad and Tobago, Ethiopia, Uganda, Nigeria, Barbados and Haiti, reflecting the fellowship’s aim to foster leadership, cross‑cultural exchange and stronger ties among Africa, the Caribbean and the United States.

The ministry reaffirms its commitment to engaging international partners in advancing Ghana’s trade, agribusiness and industrial transformation agenda and strengthening global partnerships for shared prosperity.
