Tension has mounted within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Mfantseman Constituency of the Central Region after 500 delegates accused the current constituency executives of unlawfully deleting their names from the party’s delegates album ahead of the constituency elections.

The aggrieved delegates said the alleged removal of their names is a deliberate attempt to disenfranchise them and influence the outcome of the forthcoming internal elections.

Addressing the media at a press conference held at the party’s constituency office in Kormentse on Monday, July 20, 2026, Mr Kwesi Boakye‑Yiadom, Polling Station Chairman for the Yamoransa Zone, described the alleged action as an act of “punishment, victimisation and greed” by the current constituency leadership.

According to him, the matter has once again been taken to court, with legal proceedings expected to commence by the close of business on Monday.

"The whole Mfantseman, what they're doing is not a good thing that they're using their own power to take people from it without any reason.

"If some has gone to pick a forms to contest, they have taken all their names from it and taken their favorite. Some will say I have bought all the place and even when go to certain polling station, they say they taking people's name from it.

"If they're five they'll about 4 names from it and pick their favorite and what is favorite and anything that goes that are not good when boys heard it, they see it as a threat," he explained.

Mr Francis Mensah, Secretary for the Eduma Market Shed Polling Station in the Yanmonasah Zone, reiterated concerns over the alleged deletion of delegates’ names from the constituency’s election album.

He maintained that the affected delegates were duly qualified and had every right to participate in the forthcoming constituency elections, insisting that their exclusion undermines the democratic principles of the party.

Several other delegates who addressed the media called on the constituency executives to restore immediately all deleted names to the delegates album.

They warned that failure to do so could jeopardise the credibility and peaceful conduct of the constituency elections.

The group stressed that they seek fairness, transparency and justice, and urged the party’s regional and national leadership to intervene before the situation escalates.

The delegates further cautioned that, if their grievances are not addressed and the names remain excluded from the album, the scheduled Mfantseman NPP constituency elections should not be allowed to proceed until the matter is resolved.
