The Bono Regional Minister, Joseph Addai Akwaboa, Esq., has commissioned classroom blocks and a newly constructed police charge office to improve education and strengthen security in Berekum East of the Bono Region.

The Regional Minister commissioned the Berekum Police Charge Office and classroom projects at Kyereyawkrom, Kato R/C and Kutre No. 2 R/C Basic Schools.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister revealed that some of the projects were inherited from the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, while others were initiated by the current administration.

According to him, the projects are measures to provide schoolchildren with a conducive learning environment and to strengthen security in the region.

"The truth is that, when we came to power the construction of the school block has begun but His Excellency John Dramani Mahama said any project that the previous government started we should not allow it to destroy.

"So we saw that this school block will help so that the pupils can get a place to study because the pupils here, we don't know the beginning of a great person, some can become a great person in Ghana here," he said.

The Berekum Municipal Director of Education, Mr David Owusu Ansah, commended the government for the educational infrastructure, stating that this will improve teaching and learning in the schools.

Mr Ansah, however, appealed to the government to extend similar support to other schools with infrastructure deficits.
