Residents of East Legon, Oyarifa and several surrounding communities in the Greater Accra Region will experience a 24-hour disruption to their water supply as Ghana Water Limited (GWL) conducts planned maintenance at the Dodowa Booster Station.

In a statement released on Tuesday, July 7, GWL said the booster station will be taken offline for scheduled works from Thursday, July 9, 2026. The activity is expected to last 24 hours.

The company explained that the temporary shutdown will enable its engineers to perform essential maintenance intended to enhance the efficiency, reliability and long-term sustainability of water supply from the facility.

GWL warned that customers served by the Dodowa Booster Station may encounter either a complete interruption of supply or reduced water pressure during the maintenance period.

The utility advised households and businesses in the affected locations to store sufficient water before the shutdown and to use existing supplies sparingly until normal service resumes.

The areas affected are East Legon, Adjiringanor, Ashaley Botwe, Madina, Adenta, Oyarifa, Frafraha, Agbogba, Haatso, Atomic, Ashongman, Dome, Dodowa and adjoining communities served by the Dodowa Booster Station.

GWL said every effort will be made to finish the maintenance within the scheduled period to minimise the disruption.

"Management regrets the inconvenience this temporary interruption may cause and sincerely appreciates the patience, understanding, and cooperation of customers as we undertake these essential maintenance works to improve the reliability and quality of water service delivery," the statement said.

The company added that the maintenance is part of ongoing measures to strengthen water infrastructure and enhance service delivery to customers across the Greater Accra Region.
