An unidentified woman, believed to be about 27 years old, was found dead in a bush at Anyinamso No.1 in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.

According to reports, the body was discovered hanging from a rope tied to a tree and is believed to have been there for three days before it was found. The remains were reportedly in an advanced state of decomposition.

Traditional leaders, officials from the Environmental Protection Department and the Mpasatia Police Command have since buried the body.

The Assembly Member for the Anyinamso electoral area, Sampson, said he did not believe the deceased was from the town, adding that no one from the area had been reported missing.

"In my view I believe she doesn't come from this town and no one is missing here too and I think some bad group killed her somewhere and came to hanged her here.

"And anyone who will commit suicide will definitely come from this town and I know police came to the scene and took the body so definitely they'll do their investigation,"

He urged the public to report if they know of any young woman undergoing vocational training who left home in her uniform and has not returned, so authorities can pursue further enquiries.

Police said investigations are ongoing to establish the identity of the deceased and the cause of death. They have appealed to anyone with information that could assist with the probe to contact the Mpasatia Police Command.

Traditional authorities ("Nananom") have also asked the public to report if they have a daughter who has been missing for the past three days, to enable possible identification of the burial site.
