The Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson, described the strong relationship between Christians and Muslims in Ghana as a shining example of the unity and brotherhood needed to promote national cohesion and sustainable development.

Speaking at the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving Joint Muslim and Christian Service organised by the Sekondi‑Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) and the Effia Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly (EKMA), Hon. Nelson said the gathering demonstrated the spirit of religious harmony, peace and mutual respect that continues to define the Western Region and Ghana as a whole.

He said national development is not measured solely by infrastructure and economic growth but also by the character of citizens and their commitment to accountability, social responsibility and respect for the rule of law.

Hon. Nelson observed that both Christianity and Islam teach truthfulness, justice, compassion, humility and service to humanity, and he stressed that these shared values should continue to guide citizens in their efforts to build a peaceful and prosperous nation.

"We appreciate the invaluable contribution of our traditional authorities, religious bodies, security services through society organisations and ordinary men and women who's hard continues to drive the development of our region.

"This occasion should inspired us to renew our commitment to preserving the peace peace, unity and social cohesions that define us.

"We must reject corruption, indiscipline, tolerance, environmental degradation and all actions that undermines our collective progress.

"I wish to particularly commend our Christians and Muslims leaders for their unwavering commitment to promote interfaith dialogue, peaceful coexistence and moral values in our community," the minister commended.

He expressed appreciation for the efforts of traditional authorities, religious bodies, security services, civil society organisations and ordinary citizens whose hard work continues to drive regional development.

Hon. Nelson urged attendees to renew their commitment to preserving the peace, unity and social cohesion that define the region.

He called on citizens to reject corruption, indiscipline, intolerance, environmental degradation and all actions that undermine collective progress.

The minister concluded by commending Christian and Muslim leaders for their unwavering commitment to promoting interfaith dialogue, peaceful coexistence and moral values in the community.
