Our commitment as a caucus is to our flagbearer — Minority Leader to Bawumia

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has reaffirmed the Minority caucus’s full support for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia following his decisive victory in the New Patriotic Party’s presidential primaries.

The Effutu legislator made the assurance after a courtesy visit by the caucus to Dr Bawumia’s residence, stressing that the party remains firmly united behind its newly elected flagbearer.

“Our commitment as a caucus is to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of our party,” Mr Afenyo-Markin said, explaining that the visit was to congratulate him and formally pledge the caucus’s support ahead of the 2028 general elections.

He noted that party unity is central to the NPP’s strategy for national success and effective electoral mobilisation.

During the visit, the caucus also commended the peaceful conduct of the primaries, praising the maturity displayed by aspirants, delegates, and party members throughout the process. Mr Afenyo-Markin underscored the importance of cohesion within the party as preparations intensify for the next general elections.

He further called on party members, supporters, and stakeholders to rally behind Dr Bawumia, emphasising that a united front would be critical to securing victory in 2028.

Mr Afenyo-Markin concluded by expressing confidence in Dr Bawumia’s leadership and vision for Ghana.
