17-year-old Osei Kwame is currently in critical condition after reportedly enduring severe physical abuse in Assin Breku.
According to reports, an enraged father, identified as 36-year-old Issah Boamah, tied the teenager to a tricycle and dragged him along a rough road, resulting in serious injuries. Witnesses state that Osei sustained various degrees of injuries, and his clothes were torn into shreds during the ordeal.
Relatives of the victim revealed that he had been in a relationship with the suspect's 14-year-old daughter for the past three years. Osei admitted to having been in a relationship with her but claims he ended it several months ago.
He recounted his harrowing experience, stating that the suspect took him to the outskirts of the Assin Breku community and forced him to choose between life-threatening injuries and death. “Out of fear, I chose the injuries,” he said.
"I was dating a lady called Blessing and I quitted the relationship, so after quitting the relationship, I left this town to a different town to work. The day I was coming back, the lady called to ask if I was coming.
"When I got there, the man asked me to sit beside him, and I did. He then said, 'Am I not the one he asked to stay away from his daughter?' I told him I had stayed away for a long time.
"He has a tricycle (Aboboyaa), and he asked me to enter it. Afterwards, he tied me with rope to the Aboboyaa and asked his brother-in-law to bring a machete and Wellington boots.
"The machete was very sharp. As we were going, he stopped and later sent me to the cemetery, asking me to choose between life and death.
"So I told him I wanted to be injured. He then used the rope to tie me at the back of the Aboboyaa and began to move. I fell down while I was only in a vest, and he continued to drag me along."
In the wake of this brutal incident, the victim's relatives confirmed that the matter has been reported to the police for investigation and necessary action.
The suspect, Issah Boamah, admitted to inflicting the injuries, citing his frustration with Osei's continued relationship with his daughter.
