Voting has officially ended in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries across the country, marking the conclusion of a highly competitive internal contest to elect the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
Sorting and counting of ballots are currently underway at polling centres nationwide.
Five leading figures contested the primaries: former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong; former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia; former Education Minister Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum; former Minister for Food and Agriculture Dr Bryan Acheampong; and former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong.
At the Headquarters of the party, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is leading with 308 votes, followed by Kennedy Agyapong with 160 votes.
Kwabena Adjei Agyapong received 7 votes, while both Dr Bryan Acheampong and Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum had 3 votes each.
