'The rise of non-state actors has reshaped the nature of security challenges'- Mahama Emphasises National Security is a Shared Responsibility

In an address at the Ghana Military Academy graduation parade, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama emphasised the importance of a coordinated strategy to address the nation’s security issues.

During the graduation ceremony, which was held at the Ghana Military Academy on Friday, January 30, President Mahama stated that security is not solely the responsibility of law enforcement agencies but a collective obligation of all citizens.

“The rise of non-state actors has reshaped the nature of security challenges. These realities demand a comprehensive and coordinated national response,” President Mahama stated.

He declared that security cannot be seen as the sole responsibility of the Ghana Armed Forces and security agencies, but as a shared national duty of all Ghanaians.

“Citizens, communities, traditional authorities, civil society, and the government must work together to protect the peace and stability we all so cherish,” President Mahama said.

He emphasised the importance of vigilance among all citizens and called for a heightened sense of security awareness to protect the nation’s peace.
