Akuapem Tech Summit 2026 gains traditional backing as Nifahene joins Governing Council

The Akuapem Technology Secretariat (ATS) has strengthened its governance structure for the Akuapem Tech Summit 2026 after the Nifahene of the Akuapem Traditional Council, Osuodumgya Otutu Ababio V, accepted an invitation to serve on the Summit’s Governing Council during a high-level engagement at his palace in Adukrom.

The courtesy visit, aimed at securing traditional support and formalising collaboration, also saw the presentation of a Governing Council invitation letter and the Akuapem Tech Summit Policy Framework to the Nifahene.

The delegation from the Akuapem Technology Secretariat was led by Acting Chairman, Benjamin Ofori, and included Acting Director of Operations, Mr. Ayeh Akuffo, as well as Amb. Nana Aku Sika Okani (II), Ankobeahemaa of Aseseeso Akuapem and Acting Director for Sponsorship and Partnerships.

The engagement forms part of ongoing efforts to rally traditional leadership, development partners, and stakeholders behind the Akuapem Tech Summit 2026, a flagship initiative designed to position Akuapem as a leading innovation and technology ecosystem in Ghana and West Africa while preserving its cultural heritage.

During the meeting, Mr. Ayeh Akuffo reiterated the Secretariat’s long-term development vision aimed at transforming the Akuapem Ridge into a hub for innovation, youth empowerment, and economic transformation.“Our vision is to transform Akuapem into a thriving technology and innovation hub by empowering young people with digital skills, entrepreneurship opportunities, and access to emerging technologies,” he stated.

He further explained that the initiative is designed as a sustainable development platform that will attract investment into key sectors such as education and agriculture. “The Akuapem Technology Secretariat is not just organising a summit; we are building a long-term development platform that will attract investment into education, agriculture, and innovation across the Akuapem Ridge,” he added.

Responding to the presentation, Osuodumgya Otutu Ababio V welcomed the initiative and formally accepted the invitation to join the Governing Council of the Akuapem Tech Summit.

“This is a vision worth supporting, and I am ready to contribute my time, influence, and available resources to ensure its success,” the Nifahene said.

He urged the Secretariat to remain focused and committed to delivering on its long-term development objectives. “Do not allow this initiative to end with the five-year plan. Build an institution that will continue to serve Akuapem for generations to come,” he advised.

The Nifahene further assured the delegation of his full support for the upcoming summit, pledging his readiness to offer guidance, influence, and resources where necessary.

The meeting was attended by members of the Nifahene’s council and was also observed by other dignitaries, including the Member of Parliament for Okere, Hon. Daniel Nana Addo-Kenneth, alongside delegates from Pennsylvania in the United States.
