Vice President joins stakeholders in Banda Ahenkro to commemorate the June 4, 1979 uprising

Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has attended the commemoration of the 47th anniversary of the June 4, 1979 uprising in Banda Ahenkro on Thursday, June 4, 2026.

She was joined by the members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), representatives of security services, religious leaders, and other Ghanaians who gathered to observe the occasion.

Addressing the audience, Mrs. Opoku-Agyemang noted that history holds valuable lessons and that Ghanaians must strengthen their understanding of it. 

“In my remarks, I noted that while history carries difficult lessons that we must not lose sight of, we must also highlight how far we have come so that we are encouraged to do even better,” she said. 

The Vice President affirmed that the Mahama Reset Agenda is designed to improve efficiency while strengthening the pillars of democracy and accountability.

She encouraged that citizen’s must prioritize contribution towards building the country they desire. 

“We still have far to go as a nation. We continue to encourage every citizen to play an active role in building the Ghana we all want,” VP urged.
