The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) successfully extinguished a late-night fire that affected a section of Nima Market in Accra on Monday, May 11, 2026.
According to the GNFS, the first response team from National Headquarters arrived minutes after the distress call and managed to bring the fire under control before it spread extensively to adjoining structures.
GNFS, preliminary investigations indicate that the fire may have been caused by an electrical fault.
The GNFS further explained that ten wooden structures and their contents were destroyed, while several nearby structures were salvaged through the swift intervention of firefighters from National Headquarters, Circle, and Parliament Fire Stations.
