The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced a major joint military exercise codenamed Exercise Storm Shield 2026.
In a statement signed by Veronica Adzo Arhin, Captain (Ghana Navy) and Acting Director General of Public Relations, it was revealed that the exercise will take place across parts of the Bono and Upper East Regions from May 10 to May 20, 2026.
According to the statement, "this is an Internal Security/Counter-Insurgency Field Training Exercise aimed at enhancing the operational readiness and rapid-response capability of troops to address contemporary security threats."
It further stated that residents in the two regions may observe increased military activities during the period.
However, the public is advised not to panic but to go about their normal duties.
